"In Terence Hannum's installation Evocation, the music of drone-metal kings sunn0))) is wedded to appropriately dense, smoky video of the cloak-clad band performing at the Logan Square Auditorium. Hannum plays up the band's fantastical image with subtle technological tweaks and strange camera angles, using three-channel video to evoke the spectacle. And then, of course, there's the music ó endless, undulating pulses from hyper-distorted guitars played at brain-liquefying volume, low growls, and shrill, keening bells. Evocation also includes a series of photographs of the soundmaking cones of various bands' amplifiers, elevating sunn0)))'s equipment fetishism and sonic assault to the level of full-body-immersion art. - TG " Flavorpill
